The children’s hospice was established in 2013. At the inpatient department of the “Lighthouse,” the most seriously ill children and young adults receive 24-hour medical care, while parents are provided with the opportunity for social respite.

The “Lighthouse” needed to significantly improve the quality of lighting in its garden. The garden is visible from the windows, patients and guests of the “House” spend time there. The garden is filled with life and a love for this place: people watch movies, hold concerts, read books, tend to flowers, and joyfully run through them.

The existing garden lighting was dim and lifeless; it needed to be filled with play and joy

Working with an art designer, we developed a design code for the lighting equipment. It was important that any integrated lighting fixture become part of the game, part of this glorious ship. Thus, we developed fishing rod lamps made from real fishing rods, authentic deck lamps, stained-glass lamps, and a dynamic lighthouse light. The project didn’t feature a single “standard” light fixture; even the strings of lights were rewired to achieve the desired color.

The “Lighthouse” requested that special attention be given to the Wall of Remembrance. It’s a garden fence shaped like boats floating on the waves. Each boat bears a message from parents and loved ones and is dedicated to those who have passed away.

Due to technical limitations, the Wall’s illumination solution was seamlessly integrated into the surrounding trees. The light deliberately avoids uniformity and doesn’t function as architectural lighting—it spreads along the waves, fading and fading, while the shadows from the foliage create a natural, seemingly random and perfectly appropriate shimmer.

It’s important to emphasize that all project participants decided to participate on a charitable basis, without any personal gain.
