As part of the international festival “Intermuseum” in the Tretyakov Gallery on Kadashevskaya Embankment, a multimedia exhibition “This is a Museum” has opened.
The exhibition continues the theme of the festival “Museum is People” and shows the museum behind the scenes, hidden museum processes, tells about the people working in the museum, preserving and studying cultural heritage.
The main characters of the project are museum specialists of different levels: from famous curators to caretakers and custodians, who usually remain invisible to visitors.
The exhibition is based on the principle of “the very best” (the oldest museum, the largest museum collection, the smallest museum, and so on).
“Our exhibition is a vivid example of the fact that a museum is really people. We point out and make visible all the internal processes of museums, which so often remain unnoticed, with the help of the exposition. “Restorers, mediators, scientists, souvenir shop employees and other museum specialists – it is thanks to them that cultural life continues to flourish,” notes curator Nina Gomiashvili.
